What is Chi Nei Tsang? : A New Dimension in Healing
Fifteen years ago I discovered Chi Nei Tsang (pronounced Chee Nay T-sang). I’d been working with people to help them recover from stress, digestive problems, anxiety, and trauma and was wondering if there was a way to not only know the story of what happened to them, but to recover from the affects of their traumas.
I found out that the Taoists in ancient China realized that negative emotions in the body have a negative affect on one’s health, impairing both physical and spiritual functions. They learned that each human emotion is an expression of energy, and that certain negative emotions may be the underlying cause of many physical ailments. The Taoists discovered that most illnesses could be healed when these negative energies and toxins were released from the body.
They developed the art of Chi Nei Tsang to recycle and transform negative energies that obstruct the internal organs and cause stress and illness.
Chi Nei Tsang is a gentle and precise healing touch on the abdomen that gently releases blocked energy, strengthens and detoxifies the internal organs and the whole body.
I learned that at every moment all the internal organs of our bodies are in deep communication with one another.
Rather than machines, we are highly refined and sensitive organisms. Our internal organs are us! This seems strange because we identify mainly with our thinking, our internal dialogue. Chi Nei Tsang is a comprehensive approach to energizing, strengthening, and detoxifying the internal system.
During my own CNT treatments I was able to connect with myself in a deeper way than ever before. In time, I was able to release the negative energy stored in my gut that was producing anxiety, anger and fear. The emotional energy was released and I was free!
As I continued with treatments, my enthusiasm for life deepened and I experienced an explosion of creativity! My mind slowed, I felt calm, grounded, less reactive and emotionally mature. The years of accumulated stress had vanished. I felt at home with myself and others for the first time
Inspired by my own treatments, I got into the training to become a Chi Nei Tsang practitioner. I often work with people who have had various therapies, including psychotherapy and are yearning to go to a deeper level in their healing, deeper than the thinking mind. They may be experiencing digestive problems, stress, anxiety, depression and want to feel more comfortable in their lives and enjoy better health.
How do we heal from within with Chi Nei Tsang?
CNT is done while you are fully clothed on a massage table. I use gentle manipulations (with patience and sensitivity) on the abdomen to release old holding patterns in your body that limit your freedom and connection with yourself. You don’t need to try to feel, or report what you are feeling, so you can be uninterrupted in your experience.
When we tune into ourselves in this way there can sometimes be a feeling of “coming home”, feeling more connected with ourselves and the world. We may not know what has gone away, but we feel more relaxed and open. In this way we can be more sensitive to our needs, and more comfortable and open to other people.
